Q: What exactly is a Virtual Managed Learning Environment (VMLE)?
Many software products refer to themselves as a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Generally, these products are designed to be 100% web-based and administered by each teacher. CyberExtension™ goes a step farther. While we recognize the value of a virtual learning environment, we also realize the value of the classroom. Our virtual managed learning environment (VMLE) combines all of the features of a virtual system, with the added value of in-class instruction.
Whatever you call it, a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Content Management System (CMS), or a Managed Learning Environment (MLE), CyberExtension™ is your answer for computer based education.
Q: Can I manage an entire course using CyberExtension™?
The CyberExtension™ platform provides a number of tools for creating, assigning and mapping a course to a curriculum.
Q: Can I add entirely new courses or subjects?
Yes, through our course creation tool you can create a learning package of your own and assign it to a student or store in the library for reuse within a class curriculum.
Q: How do I create new lessons or input my existing coursework?
The CyberExtension™ platform contains a content creation tool that has a familiar "office-like" interface. If you are comfortable using HTML, you can switch to a "code view" and edit the source of your content directly. Additionally, a variety of multimedia is supported, including: Movies, Images and Adobe® Flash® content.
Q: What types of multimedia are supported?
Almost all web-friendly image and video types are supported, including: Quicktime®, Windows Media®, MPEG Video, Adobe® Flash®, and all common image formats (PNG, GIF, JPG).
Q: Can I leverage existing content such as Microsoft® Powerpoint® Presentations, Word documents and PDF files?
Yes, Almost any file type can be added as an attachment to a lesson.
Q: Can I provide online feedback to a student for an assignment?
Yes, you can provide feedback to the student in the form of a text message or an attached file. Students are notified via e-mail that they have received feedback from the teacher so that they do not have to look for feedback lesson by lesson.
Q: Does the system handle assessments and grading?
Our system is able to handle many question types from multiple choice and true/false, to short and long answer questions. Our system will display correct and incorrect answers to teachers for reviewing student work and is capable of automatically grading assignments.
Q: How easy is it to enter grades and assign lessons to students?
Our system has streamlined the process of reviewing, grading, providing feedback and assigning subsequent lessons. An integrated view of each student allows the class teacher to launch these actions from a single web page.
Q: Can a teacher's aide assist me with my online class?
The CyberExtension™ system can support teachers as well as teacher's aides. A teacher's aide can perform many of the tasks that teachers can perform.
Q: Do I need to be at the school in order to access the system?
CyberExtension™ is web-based and can therefore be accessed by any computer with a web browser and an Internet connection.
Q: What are the benefits of integrated chat and e-mail?
An integrated version of chat and e-mail keeps the communications secure and logged. It also keeps your personal chat and e-mail names private.
Q: What are the minimum system requirements to use this program?
The primary requirements for the CyberExtension™ are a modern web-browser and an internet connection. Some additional features may require the Adobe® Flash® Player.
