Registration

Friendly or Frustrating for Families?

  • Is Registration still based upon a paper packet of complicated forms?
  • How many time do families have to answer the same questions?
  • How many languages is your application available in?
  • Is it easy for applicants to upload images of required documents?
  • Does the process guide families through your "feeder school options?"
  • Does the process prevent enrolling in an inappropriate building?
  • If online, is it easy to submit the application on a smartphone?
  • Can family information from one student registration be used for another student without re-typing?
  • Can families check back to see the status of their registration?
  • Can students be registered without a single visit to the school district?

School Choice / Program Application

Could the Process Be More Friendly, and Equitable?

  • Is the school choice or program application process based upon a paper packet of complicated forms?
  • Is the required process clear to applicants?
  • How many languages is your application available in?
  • Does your process delay application processing causing kids to miss classes?
  • Is there an appearance or reality of Inequity in school/program assignment?
    • Immigrants
    • Gender
    • Ethnicity
    • Sibling attendance
    • Etc.
  • Would an efficient, balanced lottery process be a dramatic improvement?

Staff Perspective: Are your processes Efficient & Effective?

Registration

Is Your Process Frustrating for District Staff?

  • Does your process require data entry by district staff?
  • Are applications queued by registrar and/or status?
  • Can your staff compare submitted documents with relevant data side-by-side for accuracy?
  • Is your Registration compliant with regulation deadlines (e.g., McKinney Vento, etc.)
  • Does your registration process prevent out of district address fraud during the application process?
  • Can staff use templated emails to communicate with families?
  • Is your medical clearance process securely online and part of the registration process?
  • Is building availability visible during the process?
  • Could flexible workflows between district staff and building staff be more efficient?
  • Could secure, separate workflow for medical clearance ease delays in processing
  • Are you concerned about Data/Document retention issues?

School Choice / Program Application

Could the Process Be More Efficient and Equitable?

  • Seamless and flexible workflow between district staff and building/program administrators
  • Building/program availability visible during the process?
  • Avoid delayed application processing causing kids to miss classes

Robust, Flexible Remote Learning + Learning Gap Closure = Student Success!

Covid Confusion banner Lg
Remote Learning Header 4

The ability to facilitate students learning from off-campus is now a requirement for a variety of reasons. School closure due to pandemic, snow days, homebound students, insufficient staff resources due to illness, etc. What used to be an occasional need is becoming a more frequent occurrence. "Checking the box" for a collection of ad-hoc solutions or expecting teachers to individually fill the need with the conversion of their classroom materials is no longer enough. Teachers and students alike need the ability to switch modes smoothly without a loss of pedagogical fidelity. Teachers need access to an organized curriculum that they can provide sequentially to all students or as individualized instruction for all students. Learning should follow the designed scope and sequence to avoid the unnecessary creation of new learning gaps and to continue to provide opportunities for students to progress with their peers, while staying on track for graduation.

RightPath™ Remote Learning

Easy, Comprehensive And Individualized

Comprehensive standards-aligned coursework that is sensibly organized and easy to navigate.

Every student is unique and special. Students come to school each day with different strengths, challenges and assets. The days of the “one size fits all” education practice is no longer acceptable. With these demands, teachers and schools are challenged to find ways to accommodate all the needs of each individual student. Supporting learning while remote presents additional challenges if the tools are not complete.  RightPath™ provides essential learning support and tools for teachers and schools to navigate the creation of the appropriate learning environments and programs to promote success.

The Learning Resources featured in RightPath™ provide numerous instructional paths and tools for teachers to support the individual needs of their students. A robust library of interactive and engaging intervention lessons grades 1 -8 are coupled with high school core and elective coursework offerings (see samples below.) Individual Learning Plans, diagnostics and system generated intervention grouping, assist teachers to individualize instruction. Teachers, grade level and school-based success teams can utilize instructional reporting to easily progress monitor while making adjustments for the needs of their students.

Have It Your Way

  • Assign entire courses, or assign clusters of lessons as you go - based upon your course scope and sequence.
  • Utilize assessment outcomes to provide insights so you can assign lessons in small groups or individual
  • Allow RightPath™ to auto-assign based upon needs identified by an assessment. Small groups, individual students or all students!
Closing Gaps Header2

Whether you prefer to use the term "delayed learning" or "learning gaps" it is undeniable that the last 2 years have had a negative effect on student learning.

There is considerable research that shows that once a student has fallen 2 academic years behind, normal in-class remediation is insufficient to reverse the trend towards academic failure and ultimately dropping out of high school.

In addition to the stressors all of us have been dealing with:

  • Students have been forced to adapt their learning style to changes in course delivery
  • Teachers have had to hurriedly migrate their learning resources from on site to remote delivery or learn complex tools at home and without sufficient PD
  • Students have had to learn remotely with little or no supervision due to parental employment requirements.
  • Teachers have had less ability to assess student learning
  • Students have had to help siblings while or sharing their remote learning space
  • Inequities in resources have exacerbated challenges for students already disadvantaged by economic stresses
  • Tier 1 instruction has been challenging, Tier 2 & Tier 3 nearly impossible

Learning gap identification is particularly difficult now because it doesn't follow the intuitive patterns that we expect.
Students who in the past have excelled, or at least been able to manage proficiency, are struggling in the current circumstance.
Students whose learning style is best supported through traditional lecture model instruction and who in the past generally did not require remediation, are quietly struggling.
Distractions of all kinds, including short- and long-term technical challenges and absences, are causing patterns of learning loss in places that we used to be able to assume would be fine.

The only way to help students work their way out of elusive learning gaps is with formal remediation that is data informed and where instruction is individualized as much as possible. It's also necessary to continue with on-grade level instruction.

The best method to close the gaps is an expanded Data Informed Instruction AIS/RTI/MTSS program for the large number of students affected by COVID.

Affordable Credit/Learning Recovery – Summer School

Easy & Efficient- Remediate only what they have showed you they don't know!

Due to the disruption of our educational efforts over the last 18 months, more students have learning gaps and those gaps are larger than ever before. In addition, gaps are not always where we would expect them to be based upon prior years’ experience students that have never struggled before are struggling now.

Learn an easier and more efficient way to meet this challenge utilizing a unified system for DDI -  Data Differentiated Instruction. Our RightPath™ platform can drive the Instruction and remediation from on-demand assessment results. RightPath provides the teachers with Instructional Reports and Individualized Paths for each student. This allows the students to focus on the content they need to know and not on the content they have already mastered. Each student’s ILP (Individual Learning Plan) can be assigned to them for completion, and progress can be monitored with mini-assessments built into each lesson.

  • Credit Recovery
    • Re-approaching coursework after a previous unsuccessful attempt and thereby proving sufficient proficiency to be given full credit for the course.
    • Typically requires “seat time” and used only for secondary level courses
  • Learning Recovery / Remediation
    • Learning accomplished prior to unsuccessful completion of a credit bearing secondary course so “prior seat time” isn’t required for eligibility
    • Avoids creating a sense of failure for the students
    • Appropriate for remediation for Grades 3-12

Webinars: Meeting Students Where They Are

Where are my students? How can I get them where they need to be?

Where we are:

  • Learning Gaps are larger – e.g. Secondary Failure rate 80% larger
  • Days are still only 24 hours
  • We don’t know when we will be “back to normal” (ever?)
  • Teachers are overwhelmed
  • Many teachers have the wrong tools
  • Cost is a factor

Where we need to be:

  • Teachers working less than 23.5 hours per day
  • EVERY student showing growth towards proficiency
  • Students working on their individual Learning Gaps
  • Sufficient time to evaluate Student SEL (Social Emotional Learning)
  • Reduce pressure of the budgetary strain

How to get there:

  • Learn to do more with less time through efficiency
  • Use Mini Assessment after every lesson
  • On-Demand Quick Assessment for Topics/Units
  • Easy Learning Gap Identification
  • Lesson Suggestions & Resources
  • Easy Access to Curriculum Maps w Lesson Resources

Meeting scholars where they are!

Be Data Informed and Student Driven

The challenge:

The ability to leverage student data to solve instructional challenges is becoming an increasingly critical skill in today’s complex learning environments. Schools process significant amounts of data – from standardized assessments, to student work, and teaching practices– and it takes time, commitment, and collaboration to fully analyze these findings and translate them into actionable steps that lead to better student outcomes.

Educators have an ever-increasing stream of data at their fingertips and they struggle with which data to choose. But how to use this data to improve teaching and learning — how to make it less overwhelming, more useful, and part of an effective collaborative process that informs instruction and supports all students in their learning — can be challenging (Harvard Graduate School of Education, 2021).

In this session we will:

  • Explore and understand the 8-steps of the Data Wise Improvement Process how it can help you improve teaching and learning.
  • Cultivate habits of mind that can improve the effectiveness of teams and help foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build skills in looking at a wide range of data sources, including student work, test scores, and instructional practices.
  • Experience the use of protocols to engage in the collaborative use of data.

As a Result Participants will:

  • Become ‘Data Informed’ rather than ‘data driven’ to help bring coherence to the work you are already doing in schools.
  • Use a structured process to look at multiple measures of student data (student work, district demographic data, historical data, and other data sets) related to district goals in order to create a plan to drive instruction, increase collaboration, and improve strategic planning.
  • Efficiently and accurately identify needs
  • Effectively focus on meeting those needs

Please join our frank discussion of these challenges and see how providing access to key resources with a sufficient support system can help your teachers move from “where we are” to “where we need to be.” Armed with the right team and tools it IS possible to “meet scholars where they are.”
